This years' venue is an imposing 19th-century country house mansion set in beautiful wooded parkland overlooking Loch Lomond. Built on the site of Robert the Bruce’s hunting lodge, this house retains many original features including a sweeping staircase with vast stained glass windows and a ballroom. The Loch Lomand and Trossachs National Park offers many possibilities for walks, bike rides, canoeing, cruises and wildlife spotting. There are also local events and shopping at Loch Lomond Shores, in nearby Balloch.

The full postal address of the venue is: Loch Lomond Youth Hostel, Loch Lomond, Auchendennan, Arden, Alexandria, Dumbartonshire, G838RA.

This towered and turreted extravaganza of Scottish Baronial architecture was built in the 1860s for a wealthy Glasgow merchant. It passed into government hands after WWII and was then bequeathed to the Scottish Youth Hostel Association, making it the most impressive hostel in the country. The ballroom, with its polished wooden cherubs, stained glass, mounted stags' heads and decorative wall paintings, is the most splendid room in the house and will make the most perfect evening dance venue.

Accommodation within the mansion is all dormatory style, with rooms sleeping between 4 & 8 guests. This makes it perfect for such an event as everything is contained within the house, creating a warm friendly atmosphere as people pass each other on the grand oak stairway on their way to a Lindy workshop in the ballroom or in the grand hall. Dancers can come and go as they please and go to bed as late or as early as they wish.
